“Wake Forest Baptist Health will deploy a $28 million grant from the Alzheimer’s Association in an effort to confirm via clinical trials recent findings by researchers in Finland.

The findings WFBH hopes to validate suggest lifestyle choices can help keep aging adults mentally fit.

As many as 5.7 million Americans – roughly 50 million people worldwide – are presently living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, for which there is no known cure. That total is expected to double every 20 years, according to WFBH. “
